What a difference a good sleep and perfect frame of mind makes, I woke up this morning feeling like a million $, who else to spend the day with but Cathe Xtrain doing Cardio Leg Blast , in order to maintain my million $ feeling I did a premix Routine 1-6 instead of the whole 13 + core then off for some Sufferfest, Brain Training For Runners called for mixed intervals but am at the I got to have fun to continue training phase which translate to spending time in Sufferlandria, did Steamroller which is 13 intervals at various time, pace and recovery time, longest was 4 mins and shortest 10secs with recovery time going from 1:45 to 30secs, pacing going from agony (10mph) to HM pace 6.9mph. For some recovery was so short my treadmill didn't even get to the recovery pace before I had to go back up. It felt good and I love watching Mo Farah run, so graceful.

After work was 6 miles with Shelby at the Meadow loop, nothing spectacular we were slower than normal but we got it done and one more in the books.

Just a Quick Post, seem to be worn out not sure from what, so heading to bed early.

Thursday -Kelly Coffey Meyer Shape up weighs only, I think this so much harder without the cardio in between and it also was hard to go heavy since reps were long

Afterwards was Sufferfest Revolver, if this is done right 1 min felt like eternity, funny that the 1 min recover seem to fly by, but I love this workout, love looking at the form of the elite, how smooth they land and move. The complied races use is perfect and that dash by Bolt just propel you forward.

Friday - Iron Core Kettle bell Bootcamp, I have actually owned this DVD for over a years now and never did it, not sure why but it was perfect for today, I just dilly dally all morning long not sure what I want to do, felt fine, nothing hurts but must be suffering from lack of sleep. After wards was an easy spin, did consider a sufferfest but wanted to watch some eBay youtube videos

Saturday - In the workout front, didn't do much, just made myself do something, even thou I was dressed I knew I wasn't running at 9am with the temps at 80 degrees and 82% humidity, so clean the house, cook, sort clothes then eventually around 11:30 went to the basement and got in the Iron Core #2. I felt so much better as the DVD moved along, this was 3 circuits of 6-8 workouts but I like that she moved things around in the circuit instead of just doing the same thing for the 3 circuit like yesterday. Love the workout not to get ready for my family, love seeing my sister and her kids, also glad to have Ms. B back in town.

Me and my baby and we match

Memorial day weekend was a complete blur, so grateful for those who gave their life in  service to our country.

Saturday, met up with Shelby and we tackle the Valley loop and lock 29 to get in 10 miles but we did end up going almost 11 miles, Shelby did a good job keeping us on pace, we stayed at the low end with the hope of moving up with each run. Lock 29 as usual was crowded with cyclist, families, walkers and runners.

After the run and some errands, off to a friend's son's graduation party, had a great time there and I had a great conversion with a lady about being an empty nester. I find it interesting that couples that currently do not spend time together think there is a magic moment  fairy godmother once the kids leaves home.

Sunday before church got in Pretty Fierce Lean Out Outdoor Workout, find it interesting that she calls this an outdoor workout but the whole thing is filmed indoors, great workout did one round for 20 mins. After church finish getting the kids packed then off to Oxford to drop him off, spending the night since we can 't get the apartment key until Monday morning.

Monday: The Hampton has a nice elliptical so I decided to use it instead of an easy run, this made doing an iClimb with Keith so much fun, was shooting for 30mins but do to excess fun ended up with 47mins had to stop due to time. After shower and breakfast, headed off to the apartment to pickup key and move in, then trip to Dillards out, IKEA, Walmart and they finish move in and cleanup, we finally left around 7pm getting home close to midnight.

Tuesday very tired but made it out of bed to get in a workout, warmup with Drop 2 Sizes Phase 2 RAMP then time to suffer using Sufferfest Steamroller, this seriously kick my butt but it felt great, a real shock to my system, rest are incredibly short for the pace I was running, had to push and focus to get this done. I love watch Mo Farah run, such grace and he doesn't look like he is working hard.

After work got in 6 miles in Shelby, this was hard, still quite tired but it felt good to run and challenge the body a bit.

Friday - The drive to pick up my son at Miami University 4 hours away was painful, I can't believe I drove the same distance , did 3 races (Flying Pig 10K, 5k and Marathon) and drove back. It has something to do with my husband's car seat, not the first time this has happened - butt is allergic to luxury car, an hour into the drive my left butt muscle was shooting pain down my leg, so glad to get out of the car and stretch things out, same problem on the way back, thankfully we stopped for gas and dinner. This is really going to suck when we do the 9 hours to Chicago via Cincinnati for my niece's graduation. Workout Pretty Fierce Lean Out (PFLO)Lower Body Strength + Upper Body Strength +36 mins of Spinerval Ultra Conditioning Core, this was  a great combo. PFLO continue to kick my butt.

Saturday - Still have some butt pain but legs are fine, got in 8+ miles with Shelby on the trail, pain was no better or worse, went for my scheduled massage and she was able to get some of the kinks out.

Sunday - Thankfully I did not sign up for the Cleveland Marathon, it was hot and humid (100%), before going for a graduation ceremony I was able to get in PFLO Anaerobic capacity workout (yep lack of oxygen alright)+core +yoga hybrid, I don't think I will ever do more than the 28mins routine, another hard one. I think if you survive the rotation, you will be in great shape, she goes through it without huffing and puffing, she is a machine, quite humbling.

Monday - I convince myself to run outside in the morning, it was humid and I was miserable but I got in a 5k before coming in, came back in and did Cathe Push/Pull

Today - Since I am running Akron with Shelby, I decided that I need to do Brain Training For Runners (BTFR) marathon plan so we run at least 20 miles, I think she will have a panic attack if we stop at 16 using Hanson even though she knows it works for me. So today was hill repeats and I pulled out Sufferfest: The Machine; I have my paces for running a 1:58 HM this is Shelby's other goal, to run an under 2hr HM, we are running biggest loser 6/7;/15 not enough time I think, last HM was 2:10 for me, Shelby has not done one this year, next HM is 8/15 should be doable but we will need to pick up speed and endurance.
Sufferfest: The Machine - 5 hill repeats by #4, I was dying, why would they think this was a good time to do a 5k pace on a 8% incline, each repeat was about 3 mins, the incline and speed changes, tend to go up not down. Use Drop 2 Sizes Phase 1 RAMP to warmup before sufferfest, then did Drop 2 Sizes Phase 1 Countdown Metabolic workout after + PFLO yoga.

Still struggling with chest congestion from my allergies, just does not seem to be going away, I hope I can keep up with my training, enjoy how my body is feeling but not sure what is going on with the butt muscle currently both actually hurt even to touch, good thing I use a standing desk at work.

Ordered Strong Stride and Cardio Strength from Groupon, good deal $9.99+tax+s&h brings total to $15.01, 6% cash back from ebates.

Still adjusting to cold weather and time change, both jut seem like a cause for depression, grey skies and cold temperatures on my.

This morning got in D2S P3 Ramp + Strength 2, this really kick my butt, I have really been pushing myself with this workouts, I means I am getting up at 5am to do them I want to look like I train. Dumbbells was 20 or 25# and kettle bell was 16kg, although for the shoulder work used 2# which was more than enough since they were only using bodyweight, still felt it.

Then it was off to Sufferlandria to represent doing the machine, this was a sneaky workout, started out nice and easy but it didn't take long for the pain to set in and I was huffing and puffing, lord have mercy. I think if I dedicate my self to this 3 sufferfest workout and Coach Troys Runner 7.0 and 2.0, I will make some great gains over the winter.

After workout, got together with Shelby and Mandy to get in more hill repeats, legs felt surprisingly good despite this morning strength and run torture, it was cold but not windy and still no snow in the Cuyahoga Falls despite snow in quite a bit of neighboring cities.

We ended up with 13 hill repeats, the goal before the end of winter will be to do 20

I love morning when I wake up with the I can conquer the world altitude, hung out with Rachael for D2S RAMP + Strength 1, this workout have long recover  that I really push to the limit with heavy weight deserving every minute of that recovery.

Then off to Sufferlandria, was really suffering today, somehow I did much better with holding the pace last week but struggle this time around but upon looking at my log realized I was a tad bit more conservative since I wasn't sure how the program worked while today, I really tried to stick to 5k, 10, sprint paces, finished off about 0.4 miles faster than last week, yeah baby. Avg pace 9:58

After work, met up with Shelby to run in  the dark, we both have 2 lamps, I had one on my head and one around my waist, it just seem ridiculous for it to be so dark at only 5:30pm. We went our usual route and despite being tired I want to keep the pace relatively fast, well at a medium effort to really get the effect of running on tired legs with the knowledge of no run tomorrow.

Also first time wearing my Hoka Bondi 3 size 10, I like how they feels but I think I need a half size more for a proper fit or work on the lacing, love the cushioning in the forefoot since it protects my big right toe, I felt like I was running more upright with power despite being tired. I still have the Hoka Kailua to try out but now have a feeling they may fit big since I got those in a size 11.

Cold and gloomy today, unfortunately it may be like this for the next 4 months, the joys of living in Ohio.

D2S P1 RAMP + Strength 1, I really like that it is easy to go heavy in this workout even thou it will be quite a challenge with 15 reps. Next week will be P3 then I think am switching to RKS for a bit.

Part 2 was Sufferfest Revolve which is 9x1min ON/1min OFF + warmup and Cooldown

Decided to use the 5k pace since that was what was called for in BTFR, goal was to run with good form and not hold the treadmill during the ON portion, did very well and maintained good form through was actaully quite happy with myself and I was a sweaty mess when done.

7x1min @7.5mph 2% grade with recovery @ 4mph 2% grade for the last 2 intervals went for 8mph/2% grade since I was quite warmed up and was able to do with, yeah me.

Not sure why I have been quite hungry this last 2 days, really been a conscious effort not to over indulge and start snacking, drinking lots of water and tea nothing added.

Monday: Had a rough night so woke up late and was only able to get in a nice easy 7 miles run while watching my latest Korean music, lots of walking ans stair climbing at work and I also got in 2 miles with my girls from Girls on the Run, we are getting close to our 5k and they are not quite ready. After work while waiting for dinner to finish baking, I got in UFIT Upper Body Bliss, short to the point strength workout with cardio burst thrown in to keep the heart rate up.

Tuesday: Drop 2 Sizes (D2S) P1 RAMP Warmup + Strength 1, I only did 20 mins of strength 1 since I needed time to finish my running workout . Today was Sufferfest Treadmill Workout Steamroller, this was my first time doing this and I enjoyed and was drenched in sweat when done, I varied my interval pace from 6.0-10.0, I did feel 6.0 easy half through so increased to 6.2, finding the right pace was tricky, had to be careful because for some the recovery were short at only 30sec, treadmill wasn't even down to recovery pace before it was time to start rolling into it for the next one.

After work got in 5 miles with Shelby around the city of Hudson, it so dark already at 545pm when we started, we needed our headlamps. I need to buy a brighter one, my current one is just not bright enough if I intend to continue running outdoors in the winter.

Seem to have pulled my left calf muscle yesterday while observing the reactor transfer at work, wore my compression sleeves all day at work and did some icing, wasn't too bad while running, I need to keep a eye on it so it doesn't get any wore or turn into something else.

Active Recovery day today, D2S P2 timed metabolic workout did the warmup also, for the swing use 12kg KB with 20# dumbbell for the rows, pretty efficient work, done in 28 mins which included the warmup, 3 rounds of 5 exercises(Swing, side to side lunges, row, lunge to reach and T pushups) with 40secs ON/20 off.

After work, did some quick listing on ebay and then Yin Yoga to round out the day.

Got the 3 Sufferfest running workouts yesterday, I love the cycling ones so I have no doubt this are going to kick my butt also.

With tracking my food, finding out sodium is a problem ahhh

Weekend Review

Well it was cold as usual since this is Ohio after all and the occasional flurries never turn into a blizzard but didn't stop either so ended up with about 3 inches of snow, I decided to volunteer at the Green Jewel 50K Saturday when the race director send out a plea for more help at the aid stations. Started ot at the mile 10 aid station and was surprise to see how fast the pace was since there was a coating of fresh snow on the all purpose trail, after 2 hours with 90% of the runners though the aid station, I headed to mile 19 AS, I really have to say even with the multiple layers I have on, I was cold and my toes where freezing since I have been standing in wet, snow covered grass.

Well, mile 19 was no different still in wet snowy mess and now expose to the wind, it was great seeing the runners and helping out but after another 2 hours and 90mins yet to go before the AS close down, I was extremely cold and decided it was time to leave, the AS captain had enough people on hand and most of the runners had already gone through so he was okay with me leaving.

Got home took a hot shower and fell into a deep sleep, so much for running and swimming after volunteering, oh well, but it was great seeing the runners, great job to them on getting through very difficult race conditions but I was quite surprise on how many runners still wore shorts.

Sunday, I decided to join the Portage Tri group for an indoor ride, they got the new Sufferfest and since I know it is not on my to buy list due to limited fun, felt this was a good way to try it out. Sufferfest Blender is more structured than any of their other workouts and also the longest at 100mins, it was a really great workout and nothing beats suffering as a group. Got back home showered and took another power nap. Life is good.

Quick Review

Due to life been missing for a while I have been unable to get on and blog I am still in the Spinerval Super6 challenge although I did take 9 days off to do the Sufferfest 9 days Challenge. What made the challenge so great was the introduction to Trainer Road a great training software. I love seeing the data when training, even though I can see some of the data in Garmin, it is really not the same, I am able to see HR, Cadence, Power and when in free ride % of FTP right as I train. The graph records HR and Power so you can easily see when you are dropping can't pretend it is not happening, it really help step up my game and make training so much more fun and effective.

I still do not have a concrete plan for the year, just still not sure what I want to do but I love what am doing now with  no pressure of an upcoming race. I am also loving the no pain after workout, not sure if it because I am training smarter with the inrease cross training or what but I will take it.

Stringing it together

Taking it easy this week in preparation for the 9 days of Sufferfest but then I think because of the unusually cold temps I seem to have an abundant amount of energy and completely overjoy that the body is slowly healing.

I felt like running and biking this morning so decided to have fun doing a brick, love the workouts in TrainerRoad and was able to find some short ones to fit the challenge.

Rodgers - 20mins biking 4.24 miles
1 mile run 9:35
Whitney - 13 mins bike 2.76miles
1 mile run 9:46
Humphrey - 13mins bike 3.19 miles
1.13 mile run 10:51
Davis - 16mins bike 4.02 miles
So got in a 5k run and about 14.21miles

This was so much fun but I probably should have picked more reasonable bike workout because Whitney and Humphrey were killer VO2max intervals and I was dying and couldn't maintain the pace for the should time or switch fast enough due to fatique. Had to switch shoes between the bike and run but it wasn't that bad and I was able to see my heartrate while running on trainer road so that was nice.

Catching up

Even thou the weather was beautiful here this past weekend I really didn't get an outdoor run in, I was achy and extremely cold, good think I got the flu shot. Saturday I was able to get a Sufferfest Extra Shot long Scream ride in, love the music and it was just the right think to push of the chill, sweaty mess when done.

Sunday still wasn't 100%, planned to run before church cancelled it, planned after got dress then ended up sleeping for 4 hours, felt better but now it was too late to run outdoors and it was time for grocery shopping, weekly cooking and dinner. After dinner with everything squared away for the wee, decided to go to the basement and get a run, wasn't my best, but got in 4 miles before calling it a day added on Xfactor ST week 4 day 1 since I know Monday was a busy day.

Monday Spinerval 11.0 Big Gear Strength and then it was time to start the runing around for the week. After work went for my first accupunture, probelm area right foot, both knees and left shoulder. Felt the needle more in some areas she indicated needle size and if I was tensed. After all the needles were in, heat was applied via a heat lamp.

Today the knees feel much better, shoulder is throbbing and foot feel the same but then I ran 7 miles this morning and there is no significant pain like I normally have in the foot so make be there is a change after all. Did 7 miles using Cardio Coach Candice the follow with Xfactor week 4 day 2, the up/down plank follow by jump squat is a killer combo.
