Left leg still isn't 100% despite all that has been done to it but yesterday at work I basically iced it to death and was gifted this morning with a less painful leg. With 2 weeks to go for the Akron  marathon, taper started yesterday, this was a 24 weeks training plan so knowing that I am on week 23amazes me although I haven't stuck with the plan 100% due to trail races but kept most of the guideline in mind.

Today's workout was suppose to be mixed intervals but I decieded to do Runerval 1.0 with Coach Troy instead been a while since I hung out with him.

Warmup
Base pace = 5.5mph
3x1min On/ 1 min OFF - BP +mph = 7.5mph
2 mins BP
3x1 min ON/ 1 min OFF - BP + 3mp = 8.5mph
2 mins BP
45 sec ON /45 sec OFF - BP + incline @ 2%, 3% , 4%, 5% & 6%
2 mins BP
2x1 min ON/1 min OFF - BP+3mph @ 2% & 3% incline
Cooldown
I was feeling very good so did interval 3 more times and interval 3 (hill climb) 1 more time but instead of keeping Bp @ 5.5mph, I switch to 6.6mph and was still able to run.

Great confidence buster workout, was able to get all the paces in and no screaming from the left leg but I did notice that my treadmill may be needing a tune up soon because it wasn't very happy today belt seems to be sliding to teh side also.

Really didn't feel like doing Barry or the elliptical the last 2 days so did some workout on my own. yestedayy, I picked up 5 Exercise TV from the dollar store and for a change of pace today did Cardio Blast with Michael Carson and Ultimate Buns with Stephanie V (?) it was a nice change.

On the injury front, both legs are feeling better and I think I am finally getting back to a normal gait on walking, since I have been injured for so long the walking gait was actually worst that the running gait and I have also been using the orthotics in my daily shoe which is actually a running shoe that didn't workout great for running but has been great for walking.

1 more week to go then I start back slowly to running 1 mile at a time to see how things response, the only sad part was that I made so much gain last year but I am back to square one this year none the less I am still greatly to be be able to expereience the joy of running.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year Everyone

I am alive but still no running, at least not for another 4 weeks, the hip is getting better but the heel is definitely being stubborn, currently in a boot, and doing a combination of ultrasound, graston and electrical current. Added the electrical current on 12/31 and there seems to be a response finally. I do not have any racing plan right now for 2010 just because I hate to put unnecessary pressure on myself by having to start training earlier than my body wants, the goal is to be 100%, or at least close to it before starting back up.

Cross training has been going great at least I have been able to maintain my weight and fitness level during a very heavy eating season, and also discovered that you can push and get your heart rate very high on an elliptical and holding the handle doesn't give you a chance to push as hard so lock the handle in place and swing your hand like you are running and boy does it feel good.

At least for the month of January going back to Barry's Bootcamp Fat Blaster Series, alternating the Upper and Lower Body dvd with using the stepper, elliptical and spin bike.

Spent most of teh holiday over at Mytle Beach, South Carolina, view from my resort room window :)

View from my house window today :(

It has literally been snowing since Friday with occasional 2 to 3 hours break

Met with the Sport MD at 8:30am today, like him much better and the official diagnosis is High Hamstring Tendinopathy, he gave me a medical article to read and the symptoms where dead on. The course of treatment is to see a PT , strengthen glutes and core, soft tissue massage to promote healing unfotunately it is not an easy/fast fix but am just glad to have a treatment plan in place.

I can still run as long as there is no excessive pain, so I am going to limit the week day run to 4 miles and just run as long as the team is going on the trail for the weekend.

Also went and got my gait analysis and thinks look pretty good but I seem to be dropping my hips, so have to work on side to side movement and also may switch to a neutral shoe to try it out. I have flat feet, just flat feet period.
