Funny, did Ripped with Hiit Lift it Back Biceps and Shoulders today and I didn't really remember any of the workout, it must have been awhile since I did it. I am still trying to limit my Strength work to 30-45mins which means since I was required to do BBS and also Abs which comes to about 62mins, I did the time saver workout without finishers, instead of the finishers, abs were done instead. The good part about doing the abs workout broken up was that I was able to do them with much better form.

Last week of Runerval 7.0 Workout B, the goal was to keep increasing the distance ran in the 30mins, I am not increasing the max speed which stayed at 7mph (5k pace) the main objective is to reduce the time spent at recovery pace 3-4mph) and get back up to base pace (5.5mph) right away. I felt pretty good with the run and very happy with the progress I made.

Week 1 - 2.67 miles (avg. 11:13 pace)
Week 2 - 2.74 miles (avg. 10:58 pace)
Week 3 - 2.87 miles (avg. 10:27 pace)     so not a bad improvement.

Very cold here but always thankful when no snow or snow when am home or at work only, really hate driving in it.

Trying to stick to my gentle Wednesday theme, so did Warrior 365 gentle Yoga , this is a very beautiful practice, perfect to calm the body and stretch things out.

Shelby has been busy moving so we haven't ran in awhile so we had plan to get together tonight since I know it was going to be an easy and I could move things around since I miss running with her, all day it was a beautiful 30+ degree with blue sky, got out of work at 5pm and we were in the middle of another snow storm so for safety reason we decided not to run, which was a good call since things got bad really fast.

I have been very hungry this week, not sure why, the training hasn't really changed much.

Well the weather report in the Midwest was not wrong, it started snowing around 4am yesterday off/on although more on than off, we currently have about a foot, should stop around noon today but luckily since it is not very windy they have been able to keep it off the roads, more expected and very cold temps.

Cathe Ripped With Hiit Plyo1 + 5 miles easy

I continue to say I think this is probably one of Cathe's best for runners, it does has it flaws but none the less almost a must have system for runners. Doing Plyo before my easy run, too easy to a new level since legs were done before running even began.

I seem to be coming down with something, neck and shoulder also hurting not from lifting but stress/illness bound been popping vitamin C all day, hoping to give it a short life but quite a bit of people had been sick at work.

Amazing how 33degrees with no wind feel like a heat wave, 7ft of snow in Buffalo, NY sounds unreal. Suppose to warm up to the 50s by the weekend, hoping things thaw out, I really don't mind the cold as much as there is no snow and wind.

Not that much motivation this morning but got up and did Cathe All out low impact Hiit and Exhale Wk2 Day2.

I think all out low impact is one of my favorite Cathe short to the point, no overkill of reps and you know you worked.

I have tickets to Paris for the marathon on hold with American Airline, just need some more points to post to my account, so for 80,000 aa points my husband and I will fly round trip from Cleveland to London, take train to Paris and fly out of Paris back to Cleveland, was going to do business class but have to conserve points for possible Berlin marathon and the other races already on the schedule. 60,000 points was from getting  AA credit card. Now to start working on the hotels.

Ahh more snow over night and it was still snowing when I got out of bed and all the way to work.

Workout for today, even thou all I wanted to do was curl up in bed and stay there.

D2S P2 RAMP + Complex Metabolic, this was a great 23mins routine, the workout for the complex was nice and I was able to use 15# dumbbells

8 reps each - 3 rounds
Reverse Lunges
Romanian Deadlift
High Pull
Squat to Push Press

Then off to get torture by Coach Troy, I know this workout will make me stronger but boy are they kicking my butt, today was Runerval 2.0 Treadmill Tempo.

I kept the workout pace at 7mph and varied the incline as instructed by coach just not there to increase out of this pace unless I start at a lower base pace, at which point I will feel like am wasting my time.

Tomorrow is suppose to be very cold, may break the record of 10 degrees, look like it is going to be an interesting winter, 2 snow storm and record cold and this is only November.

Placing for the trip to Paris for the marathon has serious started, now that I have Thanksgiving and Christmas out of the way. Plan is to fly to London to see my brothers, take train from London to Paris, take train from Paris to Nice after the marathon then fly back home from Nice, using mainly points to book hotel and flight.

We keep our fingers cross for Berlin

First Snow storm of the year, quite interesting that I got about 8 inches at home and nothing and I mean not even a snowflake at work. Very long work day since I have to cover for both my boss and a junior engineer.

Easy workout day 2-20mins session of exhale to work the core, lower and upper body, food wise not a great day, quite a bit of stressful eating, and wine on an empty  stomach is also a very bad idea. Oh well tomorrow is another day and back on track

Enough Already

I really am sick of the snow and cold, we had 70 on Sunday, 60 on Monday and today we have 30 with snow. My energy level and mood is just all over the place with the constant sudden change in weather. I really don't mind the snow/cold, I am in Ohio after all, but the warm/cold routine is just a bit much, especially when we swing to 70 with blue sunny skies.

I woke up as usual but decided to stay in bed, just didn't want to get up, finally got up and instead of working out decided to clean the kitchen but then ended up going to the basement and doing S90 Shoulders and Arms that is on the schedule. No run or bike today and probably won't swim till the weekend.

Day 2 and all is snowy

No work today, thank God for that since we are in the middle of a snow storm in Ohio, the weather had been usually warm this fall which had been great and this is really the first real snow fall of the year but am so ready for it to be over. After being in nice warm weather over the holidays and watching the Ohio State game in sunny Jacksonville FL, I think my days in Ohio are numbered, seeing the sun just affects your mood and state of mind.

I had 3 miles on tap today since this is first week of taper but I have to say it was the added 3 miles I ever did, just had no energy or desire but got it done none the less but I wasn't running in the snow, skipped the strength workout just do not feel like it.

11/11/11

Dear Veterans, Thanks you for your service.

With all the weddings and other special functions taking place due to today being 11/11/11 and I guess I have to say first snow in NE Ohio, I wanted to do something to celebrate the day knowing that the world will not be ending on 11/11/11 @ 11:11am, so even thou my schedule called for 4miles I decided to run 11.11 miles, yes not following the 10% rule or my schedule but it is a special day. I still plan on running my long run of 14 miles tomorrow so I have diligently worked on my recover and icing any slight ache. A little challenge is good for the soul.

It was a nice surprise waking up to the snow this morning, since my husband is out of the country I hardly turn on the TV except when I am on the treadmill and that only has my Roku on it, no cable, turned off the cable 2 months ago, we hardly watch it but my husband went through withdrawal and ordered cable for 2 TVs in the house so wasn't aware it was suppose to snow.

Let the taper begin

Waking up to a bluish gray sky and no snow falling with temps in the 30s, I decided to join the group for the last schedule long run for the Fool's 50k. Oh the trail was a mess, snow, ice and mud was everywhere, also since the temperature was warming to the 40s, on the way back we had water but every one in a while the sun rays will shine through the snow covered branches and it was spectacular. I really hope I can improve on the pace come race day but right now I am quite disappointed, oh well. Did the cross country loop this time and it was the worst of them all.

Friday, March 11, 2011

Oh Come on...

We've been having good weather, ignoring all the rain and flooding the temp was in the 40s, the last couple of days and I finally found people that were willing to run my 24 miler with me today but I woke up to this

I really don't mind the snow, I mean I live in Ohio for goodness, but this is enough, last week for the first time since January that I saw grass in my yard and anything resembling blue sky. Since I was tired of running and driving in the snow, I worked from home today and then decided to do my 24 miler on the treadmill, just couldn't handle another snowy run and I may probably do tomorrow's run on the treadmill too.

But in light of what is happening in Japan, I guess the snow is not too bad, my thoughts and prayers are we them.

Snowed in

Snowed in today, with a normal day travel to work time of  about 1 hour there was going to be no way I was going to be able to made it in anything less than 2 due to the blowing and drifting snow, so ended up working from home.

So of course with a snow day it meant I had more time to workout in the morning but this was also my taper week before my 30k on Sunday in Arizona so what to do, on schedule was my 7 mile base run which I did, decided not to do more running than that since my toes are still recovering from Saturday's race frostbite added on 3 miles of hill walking using itread 18 walking series, then 6 mins of stretch from Grace next up was Cathe Butts and Guts, this workout hits every single muscle in my legs, butt and abs.

Itread 5

Awesome run on the treadmill today, I know most people don't like running on the treadmill, but since I wake up at 4:30am (although may not start working out until 5:30am) there is no way I am going out that early without a partner or dog which I have neither. In the winter the safety issue also gets factor in with the crazy drivers, on weekends when I can delay my run till about 8 or 9am going out is not an issue. Training for my first 50k was all done on a treadmill never even got on a trail once and finished with no issue could have been faster but had no recovery issue. So yes I love my treadmill.

For today's run, I used Itread 5 Indoor Marathon Training, it really is a fun way to challenge myself and I probably do more that when I just run especially with hill climb. Perfect workout to get the blood pumping, even thou she says this is a 2 phase workout, I'll probably call it 4, phase 1 - warmup to base, phase 2 - hill training, phase 3 - sprints and phase 4 - base to recovery. Definitely an A+ workout perfect to challenge you but not to kill ya, she does give you a walking, jogging and running pace range. Got in 7 miles before I had to call it a day had to get on the road for work early due to the snowy conditions, took 2 hours to get to work today there is nothing like going 25mph on a 65mph zone

Happy New Year

Happy New Year Everyone

I am alive but still no running, at least not for another 4 weeks, the hip is getting better but the heel is definitely being stubborn, currently in a boot, and doing a combination of ultrasound, graston and electrical current. Added the electrical current on 12/31 and there seems to be a response finally. I do not have any racing plan right now for 2010 just because I hate to put unnecessary pressure on myself by having to start training earlier than my body wants, the goal is to be 100%, or at least close to it before starting back up.

Cross training has been going great at least I have been able to maintain my weight and fitness level during a very heavy eating season, and also discovered that you can push and get your heart rate very high on an elliptical and holding the handle doesn't give you a chance to push as hard so lock the handle in place and swing your hand like you are running and boy does it feel good.

At least for the month of January going back to Barry's Bootcamp Fat Blaster Series, alternating the Upper and Lower Body dvd with using the stepper, elliptical and spin bike.

Spent most of teh holiday over at Mytle Beach, South Carolina, view from my resort room window :)

View from my house window today :(

It has literally been snowing since Friday with occasional 2 to 3 hours break
