Miles to Health

Found a treadmill today at the Sears Outlet in North Olmsted and just went ahead and bought it, it's a Nordictrac C2400, for my budget right now that is the best I can afford, with coupon, store discount and taxes it came to less than $600. I know I need something over the winter, the rec center is just not working out, love to be able to run whenever I feel like, which in most cases is very early in the morning or when I am watching a movie marathon on TV, why just sit and watch TV when I can run or walk at the same time. DH will pick up tomorrow since they won't deliver to Solon, according to then too far.

Hip and leg felt great today when I woke up so was very thankful for that, today's workout was a modified Knee and Core Routine from the Sept/Oct Her Sport Magazine

  1. Lunges 20 each side
  2. Laterial Walking with Band 20 each way
  3. Wall Squat using stability ball with Knee Extender-band atached- 20 each side
  4. Sumo Squat - 20
  5. Side Lying Clamshell-20 each side
  6. Plank Pushups - 20
  7. Lateral Plank with rotational twist - 15 each side
  8. Stretch
  9. Foam Roll

I was able to get in 2 miles on Thursday after work, my hip felt pretty good but my legs were tired and heavy. It was so good to be running again, I got my strength training in for the week and I am still loving the changes in my body.

Today was going to do my normal 5 mile run from Solon to Twinsburg but decided to go to the gym since it was raining and cold, got in 5 miles on the treadmill using Cardio Coach Volume 8, this was an interval tempo workout and I love it, I was able to keep a good pace and my left hip/leg hurt a bit at the beginning but settle down 1.2 miles into the run, I am icing tonight to minimize the pain. The goal this week is to get at least 2-2 milers in and then another 5 miles, so as to be prepared for the 5 miler on thanksgiving day, am really looking forward to this since this will be my first away from home/Ohio race.

Well, it has been a long couple of days, there has been so much going on that I was spent at the end of the day but none the less still grateful.

Had the MRI done and I have stress tear along my pelvic bone, ischial tuberosities and sciatica. So after all the money and pain it still comes down to the famous RICE, but this time no weight bearing strength training, so no lunges, squats or deadlift. For the last 2 weeks I have been doing just upper body weight work, I really must say I have some nice definition in my shoulder so I am definitely wearing sleeveless for Thanksgiving regardless of how cold it is. For Cardio the only thing allowed was biking, so been spending some time with Coach Troy of Spinerval. I am actually down to my lowest weight of the year with nice definition in Upper body and abs.

This week am back slowly to train minimally for the 5 miler on Thanksgiving and then in December nothing more than 3 miles (no speed work or tempo just easy) so as to maintain a base before starting to train for Pittsburgh in January.

Things are really slow at work right now and we are trying to find ways to avoid having to lay people off, just not the thing to do before the holidays.
